My husband and young son went to Doug's Seafood Cafe at Sandgate for lunch on Mothers Day. He told me that the girl who served him was incredibly rude to both him and my son. This girl (who was obviously so over her job and people in general), rushed my eight year old son into ordering something, even though at that time, there were no other customers in the store. My son felt so uncomfortable from her rushing him, that he ended up not getting anything to eat.

Then my husband asked her if they sold chicken schnitzels, and her reply was, "We're a fish and chips shop." Then when my husband told her that most f&c shops sell these nowadays, her reply was "Well, we don't." And just for the record girl, I ordered a hamburger from you, and that's not fish and chips either, but you sold that now didn't you? And by looking at reviews on different websites, we were not the only ones to have had such an unpleasant experience with this girl.

Note to senior staff - You need to train this girl because your customers should always come first. And it also might help if you teach your staff to treat customers with kindness, respect and a smile. Word of mouth gets around very quickly when it comes to bad service, so you are not doing yourself or your business any favours.

We had breakfast here today, which ended up being lunch as we waited over 2 hours for our food! The lady in charge was rude to most customers and Very rude to my husband when he went to pay and complained about the overall experience.

I highly recommend you go somewhere else if you want a pleasant experience and enjoy customer service, 2 things that the senior staff clearly does not care about!

Overall I'd say you ruined our day! It was quite an awful experience!

Deplorable. This restaurant is over priced and has the worst food I have eaten in any restaurant. Not only does the 'chef' poach the eggs until they turn to golf balls but he also plates them with most of the water from the pan. Overcooked eggs and soggy bread means I wont return. I have tried this place three times now and each time I have been very disappointed...

Overall a positive experience here. I made a booking for a large(ish) group for brunch on a public holiday. The staff members who I spoke when making the booking were friendly and helpful. It was very busy on the day of our booking but the two staff members taking care of our table were service orientated, and though busy they took our orders at just about the same time as we were ready to place them.

The time between placing our order and receiving our meals was a little long, but I didn't really notice the delay because we were a group with lots to talk about. Our meals were tasty, though on the small side. The food was fresh and I should mention at this point that the coffee was very, very good. A little expensive but a nice place to brunch.

The food at the Pelican's was fantastic, well presented and was ready quickly considering how busy it was. A little bit more expensive that a fish and chip shops but the Pelican’s Nest is more like a restaurant. Cheery young staff, free entertainment, plentiful, comfortable seating and great food, what more could I ask for. A relaxing no rush meal with my family.

We visited Schonell Pizza Caffe last Friday night prior to seeing Sweeney Todd. It was an extremely busy night and had to wait half an hour in line to be served but once we had placed our order only had to wait about 10 minutes before our buzzer was going off as there were heaps of staff making the pizzas. I must say that the wait certainly was worth it as the pizzas were absolutely delicious and devoured very quickly. Would be worth the drive on a Friday night just for a pizza.

Average service, terribly overpriced. Toasted cheese sandwich had two inch thick bread with millimeter thin cheese, could barely taste it. Overcooked chips with a tiny plastic medicine beaker of aioli, after paying 17 dollars for a couple of potatoes, two slices of bread and a thin slice of cheese, I was frankly offended to be asked to cough up a dollar for another 20ml of aioli. Save your money, there are plenty of better places to eat at Southbank with well cooked food and good service.

A hidden little Gem! Like a diamond in the rough! Coffee is superb and all staff can make great freshly grinded cups of caffeine tailored to suit any customers demands!

Staff are bubbly and enthusiastic and always go out of their ways to ensure that the Versatile Chef exceeds your desired level of expectation. Belinda does a wonderful job. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a excellent cup of coffee and some morning breaky, and the prices are very reasonable!

Iced Coffee was spilt all over my grandmother, meals were overpriced, and then we didn't receive all our drinks only to be told we didn't order them and to line up again to reorder, after our meals were delivered. We cleaned up the mess, with some help from the girl that spilt the drink, but no apologies from the senior staff, staff and management (which I think could have been the lady at the til) were rude and unfriendly and to top it off, being a public holiday we paid a surchange, for this service. Very very disappointed, would never go back or recommend this cafe to anyone.

I have been a big supporter of this restaurant for a number of years. We ordered something off the specials menu board. After we ordered, the staff changed the prices on the specials board, increasing the prices. When I went to pay, they charged me the higher amount. I questioned it and said we ordered when the lower price was on the board, and they bascially said too bad, as they were charging a public holiday surcharge.

I am fine with paying a public holiday surcharge if I am told about it. I am not happy to be charged a higher price for a meal because the staff change the price on the specials board after I have already ordered. The female team member with short red hair was not good at communicating the reason why we had to pay this higher price. I also had to pay $5.80 for a small bottle of coke. Good food but I won't be going back because of the bad attitude.

A gem in the middle of the rainforest. We enjoyed a delightful morning tea of the biggest, freshest blueberry muffin and freshly squeezed juice you have ever tasted. We enjoyed sitting on the rear deck with a lovely cool breeze coming through. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to go back for another visit.

I love this cafe, we go here all the time. Sometimes for a yummy gelati, sometimes just a coffee, but mostly for breakfast or and lunch. It's a busy little cafe and it's not surprising, the food is always tasty and fresh, the service is always friendly and prompt, the location is lovely, and it's great value for money too.

We ordered two scones with jam and cream but were given jam and cream for only one scone. When we asked for jam and cream for the second scone we were told it was extra and we had to order and pay for it in addition. When I queried it, the senior staff was rude and aggressive.

I have been eating at this establishment for over 4 yrs and have always found it to be good value for money. The service is prompt and friendly, and the meals arrive in a good time frame. The prices have increased marginally over the years, but the product has always been good. The restaurant is always full of what looks like the local community and I think this is an indication of the quality served.

After moving to the Redcliffe area from Sydney, we have missed our selection of good cafes terribly.

Admittedly, we must not overlook how fortunate we are. The Penninsula is renowned for its wide selection of 80s style cafeterias, each with a bain marie full of greasy fish and chips, instant coffee and service with a friendly profanity.

However, for those days when you want something just a little more, palatable, the Burnt Orange at Scarborough provides a welcome relief.

We have now dined here for lunch a number of times and tried many of the menu options. So far, we haven't been disappointed. Simple options, such as the baguette with leg ham, swiss cheese, rocket and roma tomatoes was wonderfully fresh on all counts and offers a well refined balance of flavours. The fish of the day is always fresh and prepared with simplicity and respect. There's not a bain marie or greasy chip in sight, I can assure you.

My partner assures me the coffee is excellent and I can vouch for the milk shakes. A selection of fresh juices would be a welcome addition, particularly in the warmer months.

We haven't tried the breakfast yet, but the menu certainly looks worthwhile. The service is always prompt, friendly and personal, and you will always be recognised by Greg if you're a regular.

They are talking about opening into the early evening with a tapas menu and wine selection. This is just what this area needs more of and I am looking forward to experiencing it.

A great little espresso bar, finally you can get a decent cup of coffee on this side of Brisbane! The barista is excellent, I had espresso, and it was very good. The place has a cool atmosphere with bar stools, comfy ottomans and a sofa seat. There's free wi-fi.

The food is simple, just basic snacks, but very affordable. Plus gelato. And a sign on the wall says they'll be doing cooked breakfast soon, so I'll definitely be coming back to give that a go. Overall, I'd say this is the nicest little coffee house on this side of Brisbane and definitely the best espresso you'll find around here.

I read the reviews and agree and disagree with them. Breakfast was a bit average, but dinner was really enjoyable. The service was probably just a bit too slick for Brisbane diners.
