Came here with friends and have to say I expected it to be slightly better than it was, given the prices (eg no table cloths on what looked like laminate tables).

Food was quite tasty, goat ragu was very nice, although the serving sizes varied quite a lot, my partner ordered a main size meal that was tiny, so I hate to think what the entree serve was like.

Service was very good, although they wouldn't leave a bottle of water on the table when my (very heavily) pregnant friend asked for one! Our waiter was quite attentive though and mostly kept up with her thirst.

Overall, we had a very nice meal but not one that I would rave about.

Very noisy atmosphere but this is the special character of the powerhouse. Other than that no complaints. Friendly and fast service, innovative food. I had scallops as an entrée, and they were very tender (and not cooked into rubber-like consistence as usual). The Osso buco was a bit on the dry side but still very good. The pork belly had a sensational crust! We'll be back!

Have had four fantastic evening dinners here. Beautiful food. Much better than it's close neighbour. Highly recommended. Looking forward to eating here again.

For the money the best restaurant in Brisbane. Exceptional food, friendly and professional staff, nice wine list. Goat ragu is a highlight, as are the desserts. No bookings policy the only downside but if you time your visit this is no problem.

A perfect spot for a summer lunch or romantic dinner. A great buzz and location, coupled with great dishes and service make this one of my favourites.

Great location and fine food makes this a real hidden secret for a lunch during the week or a buzzy, busy dinner. Weekends are even buzzier and can be crowded. There's music at the adjacent Spark space on Sundays. The wine list is good and the bar staff are very friendly and helpful. But it's the food that stands head and shoulders above the rest of Brisbane's riverside eating options.

Bar Alto is sassy, and slick. The food is wonderful. Try the Goat Ragu on homemade Parpedelle, its the best and great value at $16 for an entree. (The serve is massive so it could also double as a main). Service is attentive without being overbearing. The river view is great at lunch and lights up to create a fantastic ambience at night. Sit outside and lap it up. The Bread is a must try fresh Ciabatta served with EVOO $2 per person. An absolute bargain. Bar Alto is a restaurant, they don't accept bookings though. Its the perfect place to start a girls night out.

Actually more a restaurant experience, and the food was superb and even better value. Service was outstanding in a friendly familiar way. Highly recommend for dinner or a lunch with a cool breeze off the river.
