1889 Enoteca is a restaurant with a wine bar and a wine cellar for group dining. It offers great Italian wine and food in a sophisticated yet relaxed ambience. 1889 Enoteca thrives on freshness--classic Italian dishes, bread baked daily and hand-made pasta. The wine served are great vintages of Italy's regions.

We went in a group of 4 last week and despite the fact we had made a reservation, we were given a table in the doorway. Never mind the bad start, we were quite prepared to overlook it.
When we first arrived, I informed the waitress we were in no hurry as we were dining with friends that we hadn't seen in a few months. The same waitress proceeded to take our orders, and I reminded her we would like a decent amount of time between entrees and mains. Of course, no sooner had the entree plates been whisked away, the mains were plonked in front of us. The food was nice. Not memorable, nothing to write home about, but quite Ok.
We finished the mains and the dessert menu was pushed upon us. After declining dessert (we were all too full) the bill was thrown down on the table (we hadn't asked for it, and were still drinking the very overpriced wine, yes $65 for a bottle that was $23 in Dan Murphy's).
When I picked up the bill, we had been charged for 8 entrees (4 people). The waitress was rude when I asked her about it. The senior staff wasn't much better. We were out the door at 9 pm after arriving at 7 pm, after stating we wanted a relaxing night.
Never again! A bad experience overall, and at $650 not a cheap one.

If you book a restaurant for an 8.30 pm dinner, is it acceptable to be seated at 5 to 9? Waiting for mains at 10 pm? Too tired (and over the waiting) to even glance the desserts?
What a shame as maybe I would have enjoyed it, far more than chewy tiger prawns, or 4 thin slices of veal (overcooked) in a Vitello tonnato. Poor service shines a very bright spotlight on an inconsistent menu and a lack of imagination.
Wine list is as delicious says, fantastic. So maybe they will get comfortable with themselves, and turn in to a bottle shop eventually. Thank god I found Ortiga the next day!

I ate here last night for the 4th time and was, again, very impressed! This restaurant just oozes personality. The dining room is stunning, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the wine list is brilliant, and the food is the best I've eaten outside of Italy. My fave Brisbane restaurant and a great place to indulge!

I dined here with my husband and 18 other friends as an invite to a birthday celebration. Our friend who organised the dinner (for his wife's birthday) was given an alternate drop menu only, scallops or proscuitto as entree, wagyu fillet or salmon for main. I was given the fillet as my meal. It came out at less than room temperature. I was told that the head chef serves the fillet at room temperature.
My fillet was absolutely cold (literally). I insisted it be sent back and heated up. Everyone else who had the steak ate theirs as it was. As a consequence, all of us who ate the fillet were ill the next day (at least 8 of us). I luckily was not as sick as everyone else, only because I asked for mine to be re-heated. Wine list was extensive, but overpriced.
The restaurant was complained to personally, and they wrote two emails, and never received a response from the owners. Really, really poor customer service. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went to Enoteca when it opened and thought I had one of the best dinners I'd had in a Brisbane restaurant - the risotto was sublime. Went back last week for a family dinner and was not particularly impressed. Serving sizes were generally small and there seemed to have been limited care in the preparation of what were very expensive meals. The service was a bit off-hand too I thought. While I don't expect a long explanation of a menu, a few pointers might have been good. Overall, I felt a bit of complacency had set in. The ice cream was great, though. I see a good looking new place has opened next door - think I'll give that a go next time.

$35 for a dry pork chop with a few roast potatoes. I can't recommend this to anyone.

Recently had a birthday here. Lovely surrounds and an awesome wine list. Go for dinner not lunch and you should get a better result. Still my fave restaurant in Brisbane.

For the $100 spent on my meal (entree, main and wines) I left disappointed and hungry. Steak was poor quality meat (although presentation was lovely) and service was average for a fine dining establishment. Wine list was very impressive. Installation of an A/C would benefit the Brisbane climate. Would not go back and would not recommend. I rarely review but felt compelled after my experience.

Excellent. Great wine selection and knowledgeable staff. Take a trip downstairs to the loo and marvel at the cellar dining room. We will be going back. Soon.
