The food is very tasty. I've never had a bad dish. It reminds me of the authentic Chinese restaurants in Sydney. The decor is ugly but who cares? The staff have always been very friendly, the food comes quickly and I always leave with my stomach stuffed. Great value for the prices.

I think either the restaurant has changed over the past few years or the people reviewing the restaurant on here have no idea what asian food is meant to be like! My partner grew up in multiple places throughout asia and the first time we went to three sisters chinese he couldnt get over how similar it was to his favourite restaurants back home. We always receive extra fresh chilli and sometimes free prawn crackers when we order late! The staff are super friendly and helpful and always welcoming
During winter the restaurant is extremely warm - a true bonus in mind winter katoomba! Yes the decor appears to be outdated but its asian! Everytime we go there there are plenty of asian people tourists and those who live in the area all enjoying the food. I have also been to birthday dinners and such there and have loved it! For those who have given poor reviews perhaps you need to understand that this is not a classy, fancy restaurant and thats what makes it so wonderful. Three Sisters Chinese truly captivates the homeliness and friendliness of the Mountains and deserves a much better score than it has been given!

If you have ever travelled throughout Asia and eaten at the most influential Chinese eateries in Sydney you will understand and appreciate the art of Asian eating. The 3 sisters BBQ Chinese Restaurant is close if not on par with the BBQ King in China town, one of the most successful Chinese restaurants in Sydney.
Good food is not tastier with luxurious decor. Lino floors and plastic table cloths and tacky prints adorning the walls do not bother my palate!. It's all about the food. My son and I and other foodies from the upper Blue Mountains have been visiting the 3 sisters BBQ Chinese Restaurant in Katoomba for years!. There are the staple greats such as The bbq duck and bbq pork with rice which is sweet and delicious and the red curry duck and the king prawn laksa, not to forget the salt and spicy calamari. The prices are cheap. $8 for the lunchtime menu and the staff are always smiling and happy to see us.
For the reviews attached to this page I totally disagree with your opinion on the decor. In the 60's my parents who are also great foodies and cooks introduced us to Dixon St. We traipsed up a narrow dark staircase in to a dingy room with lino and plastic and cheap furniture to exposed our tastebuds to the exotic flavours of the east. Fried rice, prawn cutlets, beef and black bean, chicken and cashews and green tea. Just remember all you doubters, it is a good sign when you eat where the locals eat!.

Definitely not a high class restaurant of any sort. Plastic table clothes and old decor. However, the food was actually pretty good. I wouldn't go for any of the roasts in the window as the turn over just isn't high enough, so most of the meat goes cold. Which means they microwave it before serving it to you. Not a big deal since we always buy take away roast me and just nuke it up afterwards.
Their stir fries/fresh made food was pretty good. Highly recommend their garlic chicken and salt and pepper squid! Going back to Katoomba this weekend and can't wait to get their garlic chicken again! If you order during the peak hours expect a bit of a wait and some chaos, especially for take away food.

Was recommended by friends so we gave it a try. As soon as we walked in we were shocked. The decor or rather the whole restaurant is rather shabby and in need of a good clean. Since we were already in the restaurant we opt for the simpliest dish, i.e., rice with roast pork. Portion was ok but we found it hard to swallow due to the ambience or rather lack of it. Definitely will not go back there again.

Eating in is a bad idea, terrible decor and service. Takeaway is a much better option, quick, cheap and tasty. The lemon chicken is fantastic and the BBQ pork is the best outside Sydney. The duck is also good value. Highly recommended.

Well I wasn't expecting huge things here, but just wanted a quick lunch deal. I had been here years ago when they first opened which was good at the time, but it looks as though it hasn't seen a kitchen cloth in that time also. As one review mentioned dingy decor I'd have to agree. I also had the pleasure of the female server/waitress incessantly peeling Carrots on the table directly behind me in the dining room in between taking orders of food, handling cash and meat in the window.
The gloves were never removed/changed in between. The lack of hygiene was enough to make anyone's stomach flip. Just a few more things to mention:
Takeaway orders were taken before dine in customers who were waiting to order.
The menu's were filthy with a multitude of unidentifiable stains Browny/Black with no exaggeration. We paid extra to "Dine in" and the greasy mess was served on a styrofoam plate. To top it off, we had to eat with plastic cutlery. Pay extra for that kind of service? I don't think so.
Seriously, the grease lined the perimeter of the plate and is just not necessary. After a few mouthfuls we politely paid and left. The women serving didn't seem to care either way, and obviously went back to peeling the carrots in the dining room again. Charming!

I had one of the worst dining service experiences I've ever had here, and while I initially put it down to a possible language barrier, comments the staff made at the end really sealed it for me. The food is straight forward and not particularly wholesome, we had a laksa (from a bottle), BBQ pork (came so cold the fat was congealed) and fried rice made from rice so dry I had to soak it in soy sauce.
Here's where it really went wobbly though. For a start, they were unable to make any changes to the menu to accommodate one of our party who was diabetic, with an inflexability that calls to mind Seinfeld's Soup Nazi.
"There are more than 200 dishes on the menu," one of the staff told us. "Surely you can choose one of them." There was no fresh chilli, nor did we ever receive water for our table. The meals were plonked on the table where people weren't sitting, so we had to reach out for them (not good with hot soup!) and ask repeatedly for cutlery. At the end, where one of our party remarked that they'd probably get better business by being a bit friendlier, the staff told us "well maybe you shouldn't come back." Incredible!

Good simple suburban Chinese with no pretence. Sure the decor is dingy and the service is efficent if not engaging but the food and value are what make this a venue worth visiting time and again for an impromptu meal.

Good value Chinese restaurant. Service is simple as is the food, in good portions, located near the bottom of Katoomba Street. The interior decore could do with a spruce up. Have the hanging ducks in the front window. Good for a quick, no nonsense meal.
