Quite a nice little cafe but the food was average and the service appalling. First of all, the waitress got our order wrong, bringing a meat big brekky when a veg one was ordered. My friend had to sit there for 10 minutes and watch my wife an I eat our breakfast. Secondly, the soy latte and soy hot chocolate were luke warm. When we went up to pay, we mentioned these problems and enquired as to whether there would be a discount on the bill. We were rudely told by the girl behind the counter (the barista, not the waitress) that our friend had got her meal and had eaten it and that if the beverages weren't up to scratch, we should have mentioned it immediately. I said I didn't think that was especially good customer service and that the owner might have a different approach, were he to know. I work in a cafe myself and if the same situation were to arise, I would have immediately offered to take the drinks of the bill. I understand better than most that sometimes you have a bad day and that some customers can be difficult but public abuse like that is never acceptable. Will never go back.

A nice end to a long day. Went here with my family for an early dinner after a long walk in the blue mountains. Had a variety of meals, including the two specials, the braised lamb shank was fantastic and excellent value at $19. I had the angus burger which was quite good. The coffee was amazing though.
Service was very attentive and polite. Had a really pleasant experience overall. I thought the free internet, the library and board games were a nice touch even though we didn't get a chance to use them.

Went in for dinner as it said cafe and wine bar, only to discover the wine list was precisely 3 whites and 3 reds! I guess it's probably quite nice during the day for coffee and cake but I wouldn't go back for dinner as the ambience was lacking and the food was very average.

Stopped in here on a Blue Mountains Day Trip and I'm very glad we did.
Great vibe, with a free library and board games, Free Wifi and lots of power points. Espresso was very good, and an enormous serve of Banana Bread. Prices are like a time warp ($2.50 for my Espresso), the girls were busy but extremely helpful and friendly.

Our first encounter with Mountain Ridges was when we were walking along Katomba Street one afternoon. A stranger walked out of the restaurant and said to us: "The food here is really good - you've got to try it."
So, a few weeks later we did (for dinner). The first thing that impressed was the flat $3 corkage charge for BYO wine!
My wife ordered lamb backstrap and I had kangaroo. Both were perfectly cooked and very tender (there's nothing worse than overcooked kangaroo). The meat came with sides of salad, chips or mash - none of them spectacular, but that's not what I want in a side. This wasn't a five star experience, but it wasn't meant to be: it was good modern Australian cuisine, properly prepared and at a price that was, frankly, extremely reasonable.
The restaurant itself is quite large (it doesn't appear so from the street). The decor is that deliberately faded and slightly down at heels "inner city" look, with local artworks and ads for happenings on the walls. It was a place in which one could relax and enjoy the food without (a particular peeve of mine) the high levels of noise that appear to be de rigeur for restaurants these days. The service was friendly and efficient.
