Great ambience. Pick a cold evening so that you are greeted with log fires, a nice bottle of red and hearty meals. We had the lamb and veal mains and they were great. The creme brulee is great and the crepes were good too. Contrary to some of the comments below, I found the service to be more than acceptable, and their waiting style matches the theme perfectly. Visit for the experience and worry less about the value.

Went here with my boyfriend for dinner on a Saturday night and the place itself has beautiful decor, loved the checked tablecloth! We were served a menu and drinks immediately, the waiter was extremely friendly.
Our food was served quickly after ordering, however, there was an issue with my order being incorrect for the type of ravioli I ordered. The waiter we had was very polite and apologetic and advised me that to correct it may take some time but could be done. I opted instead to have the ravioli I was served because he said it would be excellent, and it was. The lamb ravioli is fresh and cooked in an amazing tomato sauce!
My boyfriend had a chicken dish, however, was not happy with his choice, he said the food itself was great just not his cup of tea, he could not fault it. The food is very traditional and authentic italian.
The food is a bit pricey but you are paying for good quality, fresh food and the servings are quite large, we were both stuffed afterwards!
Friendly service, lovely food and nice service, we had a great time despite minor hiccups!
Response from Management:
Thank you shaunao18 for your nice review. Firstly we apologise for the incorrect order. Sometimes these minor mistakes do happen and we thank you for your patience. We are glad you both had a good time regardless and hope to see you both in the near future.

Delicious pizza, warm and friendly service and great value for money at the Station Bar. Good selection of wines and beers at pub prices, and the food is fresh and well prepared. We will be back!

We went on a Saturday evening after having ventured back during the day for a coffee. Our last visit 3 years ago was horrible. Last night the food was inventive and well done and service was excellent. The new owner must be a brave woman to take on such an icon that had fallen so far. More power to her and her lovely staff.

Service was poor to say the least. When our order arrived, the macchiato coffee was badly burnt. The skim latte firstly came in wrong size then when I got the right size it was tepid and weak. The barista while being run off his feet had very poor customer service. While the ambience was enticing, the over all experience was very disappointing. Put more staff on and pick up your game.

We ate recently at the Rooster Restaurant, its priced like a fine dining restaurant at $72 for two courses but the food was very ordinary and would be more accurately priced at $40-45 for two courses and even then you would come away somewhat disappointed.
The souffle was deflated and a bit chewy, the smoked salmon was nice but the plate looked like something of the 80's with garnishing of tomatoes and wilted lettuce. The mains of pepper steak was something like you would have at a club with lashings of gravy that tasted commercial, the rack of Lamb (the signature dish) was better but again overpowered by a commercial tasting gravy and I was frankly scared to eat the "Courgette Timbal" after the first taste. But the real disappointment was the vegetables, the potato gratin was reheated from the day before or longer and tasted awful!
I almost forgot, the sourdough bread that was so hard you had to saw of pieces off with the knife! So sorry to sound negative but there really wasn't much to be positive about except maybe the waiter who deserved to be serving better food to match his courteous service, the ambience of the heritage building and position which couldn't be brought down by the dismal food.
I'm a mum who loves to eat out and appreciates good food and the opportunity to go to a nice Restaurant but its not such a treat when you can make better yourself at home for a weeknight meal!

Not child friendly!
Took my two sons here for breakky this morning. It had a lovely atmosphere and the food was great until we noticed a couple of 'sour' patrons and one staffer who did not appreciate the noise they made.
Children are sometimes unpredictable so they were a little rowdier than I would have liked too but still nothing considered unacceptable by anyone with enough internal joy to consider it normal and tolerable and go about their own business.
When I was told at the counter while paying it was not appreciated, I might have mentioned my own disappointed that my coffee was forgotten, we were not offered water, and my son was never given a plate for his meal after we asked for it but I was tolerant enough to cut them some slack and focus on enjoying all the good things.
Sadly we won't be back as it was not welcoming which simply left a bad taste in my mouth.

Wow! I am shocked that there are no reviews yet. Went here for lunch last week. Decor was absolutely gorgeous! We sat by the window and watched people on the street walk past. I really wish I had a photo to post. Anyway, so we tried a serve of the steamed dumplings, I am a huge dumpling fan and they got my tick of approval, my only criticism is that there wasn't enough sesame/soy dipping sauce.
For mains we had sweet potato noodle with enoki mushrooms, another hit, really nice flavor and I adore potato noodles! They are so generous with their mushrooms, so make sure you like them! Next dish was a spicy chicken dish (I forget the name), which also had lots and lots of mushrooms but wasn't my favorite.
The waitress was so nice, she was very attentive and came to top up our water whenever it was empty and even gave us some free korean desserts to sample. I cannot wait to return, I really want to try the potato noodle soup!

This is a great restaurant with fantastic food and offers great value it is the finest indian food I have had, we ordered a mixed tandoori entree and a garlic naan and to my surprise I felt like I was back time eating food with my grandmom the spices are fragrant and delicious and the naans were special huge and soft and yummy.
For our mains we ordered a butterchicken which was like eating velvet it was buttery smooth and delicious all I could say mmmmm!! so delicious and we also tried the tandoori prawns and they were the best just rightly spiced and tasty. Indian food does not have to be hot and spicy in all aspects it is all about delicious flavours and quality and I found it all in this restaurant.

Having gotten sick of most of the restaurants and bars in western syd, it was very refreshing to visit the station bar. When you walk in, it is obvious that the place is set up as a bar with a restaurant on the side. That being said, it is very warm, inviting and easy to settle into. The atmosphere was one where conversation was easy and the mood was light. The food is awesome, a big improvement would be a dessert menu, which I was informed is on its way very soon.
There is no table service, you order your pizza at the bar, but my wife and I found that doing it this way actually gets you your food quicker than most restaurants we have been to. Only had a brief glance at the menu, and John, the owner, did such a good job of describing to us the pizza of the month, we knew we just had to have it.
John told us that he has spent his whole life in the hospitality industry and it showed, as the whole place was put together with the customer in mind. When John found out our pizza was going to be a bit late, he came out and apologised straight away, but once again, the speediness of our food, even though it was late, beat most places we have been to.
The only improvement I could think of, would be to have someone greet the customers that come in for a pizza at the door, as when we walked in we were unsure if we should just sit anywhere or wait to be seated. There might've been a sign saying this, but I didn't see one. But the 90 minutes of enjoyment we had there made up for the initial 10 seconds of awkwardness. Do yourself a favour, go there and enjoy yourself!

I had the best hot chocolate ever there and was fortunate that there were no issues with the candle blowing out on the day. Must agree with everyone though, the service was appalling! What a shame, the experience could have been so much better. I struggle to understand how business basics such as building relationships is completely ignored.

Had dinner here on Saturday night based on the reviews on this website.
Wasn't very busy when we first arrived but soon filled up. Our server seemed to be in a bit of a rush, though she was genuine and ensured our meals were as we like. Food was typical Indian - we got the samosas, butter chicken, garlic naan and rice - all were lovely.
Simple place, and you get what you go for. Nice overall experience, though I wouldn't make a special trip to Katoomba to visit.

The premises may be nondescript, but the food, the service and the staff are all superb. The meals are excellently priced and suitably large to appease any appetite. The staff are all friendly and eager to please.
I love Indian food, and Anki's have the best I have sampled. The Chef's Special is a must if you love Indian curry. The naan's and pappadams are enormous, a meal in themselves. The samosas were simply divine.
Make Anki's your first port of call to eat in the Katoomba area. You will not be disappointed.

Went here awhile back for lunch. It is very dark and a bit dreary inside, with non-smiling waiters. The furnishings combined with very mediocre, plain food, making us wonder why it's so popular. Maybe it's dinner is better with live music. Seems to be run by a sombre religious group. We love vegetarian and wholefoods, but this took it to another level. There was no joy in this eating experience. Won't be back.
