Food is quite decent (dessert of chocolate pudding and souffle were not exciting though) but the experience was let down by the mediocre ambience and the waiting staff who lacked knowledge about the wine and food. While it is nice that they've separated out the dining area from the loud bar area at the front, the dining area still feels like a walkway.

The waiting staff are polite and friendly but they lack knowledge about the food and more importantly the wine. For a place that advertises itself as focused on wine (and their good wine list supports this) I would expect staff to be able to tell me a bit about the wines and make recommendations to go with the food beyond broad suggestions like, one of the whites will go with the fish.

Even if staff didn't have a specific suggestion they should have had a sommelier on hand to be able to answer such questions. In sum, there isn't anything wrong with this restaurant but it holds itself to a very high standard of being a fancy wine focussed dining experience that it falls well short of.

Food - Not a bad menu. Nice food. But seriously, who still serves offal and charges a truck load?

Ambience - nice enough place to sit and eat. A little tightly packed. The decor was inline with the name.

Service - Pretty good! Curt, friendly, prompt.

Value - Very poor. Small servings for the money and then add sides. Where's my bread? I left hungry after 2 courses. Wine was over priced considering this is their main attraction. $14 for a glass of NZ Pinot? Come on!

Would I go back? Nup, but I would not aggressively discourage others to try.

Wow, step up Adelaide and take a bow. This is great food. Modern and with great textures and flavours. The servings are right sized, the service is knowledgeable and efficient and the value is good. The loss of a point in ambience was due to a crowded noisy table of business people under the weather, but a great place for great food. A sensible wine list with good variety and value, but BYO is just the cure for any of its failings. This is simply a great place.
