Have dined here a few times before - it is one of those restaurants that you go to for a special ocassion. This time was similar to the previous visits. My entree and main course were both very good. The highlight was the wagyu rump. It was beautifully cooked. My wife's gnocchi entree was very nice but her main course barramundi was not good. It didn't seem fresh and had an unusual flavour. Another guest at our table also had this dish but did like it. The views of Adelaide are always great. It's intersting to watch as the night approaches and the lights of Adelaide start sparkling.

Have to disagree with some of the negative comments posted below. We dined here recently and were very impressed with the entire experience.
We were concerned that we were dining here on a cloudy night and that this would ruin the view but were pleasantly surprised when we took our seat and were treated to the sparkling lights of Adelaide below. We found the service excellent, very friendly and helpful and to a degree, informal, whilst maintaining the fine dining service qualities expected of a restaurant like this.
That may sound like a bit of a contradiction but our waitress balanced beautifully on the fine line between being too relaxed and informal on the one hand, and being too formal and stuffy on the other.
The food was also excellent. The sirloin was fantastic, as was the chicken. This was complemented by a strong wine list with a good selection in every price bracket.
The only negative would, perhaps, be the decor. A little aged and they might look at updating it to a more modern feel at some point over the next few years, but nothing too bad and certainly not enough to spoil the evening.
Overall a fantastic experience, and look forward to visiting again.

A big disappointment. Very expensive place to go. We expected a good service and food. Beef, kangaroo and fish were overcooked. Beans and lentil were undercooked not edible. We complained to a waitress but she never came back to us. Never mind, no way to go back there.

We also are people who enjoy eating out often during the week. Unfortunately, Windy Point was a great disappointment this evening. This was the worst meal we have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Both the meat and fish mains were overly salty and the passion fruit-lime crepes overly sweet. To add insult we were overcharged without an apology. Absolutely appalling.
The staff really need assistance with appropriately focused customer service, a glass of wine or water required a request by having to flag down a waiter. Even the view could not make up for such disappointing service and food. Do not waste your time or money here.

On a recent trip to Adelaide we visited Windy Point for a special occasion dinner and were very happy with the food, service and price! Coming from Sydney we expected to pay at least 50% more for the quality of food etc.
Entrees were both wonderful, prawn tails superb and the lamb was truly delicious. Sorbet of mandarin and watermelon between courses was just the perfect touch.
Main courses of duck breast and rib eye fillet did not disappoint either. The duck breast was succulent without being fatty and the beef was very tender (and generous in portion size).
For dessert we tried the chocolate melange plate for two. Glorious! We almost couldn't finish the six individual desserts each but we forced ourselves to. Finished dinner with coffee, what more can I say. Perfect A+++++ Try it. You will not be disappointed.

Have not been here for years and forgot how good the view is. Service was excellent and food great. Recommend the rack of lamb and desserts, chocolate heaven! The cost roughly $60pp (including drinks). Very reasonable for a special occasion. Will come again for our 20th wedding anniversary.

Went with friends who recommended it for the view. The view was tremendous. The service was very good with the waiter recommending a good wine to compliment the food. The food was excellent and we did not have to wait long between courses. I can highly recommend the restaurant if you want good food, good wine and superb service.

Unquestionably the worst "dining" experience of my life. In point of fact we walked out before the entree arrived. Incredibly rude and arrogant waiter who made no effort to contain his annoyance at our choosing two wines in a row from the wine list that were not available, somehow that was our fault!!
The bread was about as old as the restaurant itself, and that was as far as we got before walking out, this being over an hour after placing our food order. The one and only restaurant I have ever walked out of after commencing a meal. An utter disgrace considering the tourist potential of this picturesque location.
