Arrived before opening time, waited outside till the restaurant was open, when it opened I asked the waited if I could book a table for later on the night he politely said yes sure let me check. She then asked another lady, she came around and told us we could have a sit and have dinner now as later it will get busy. We were not very hungry as it was only 6 pm and told her, that's fair enough we are just not hungry yet can we make a booking for later please if available.
The lady kept ignoring my question and kept saying not later now! I asked again , that's ok we are not hungry just yet can we make a booking for later or not? She again didn't answer my question and just said now or comeback later and we will see. Not bookings policy? I was quite surprised as I only wanted a simple answer. Are they available bookings or not?
I thought it was extremely unprofessional, anyways the wife and kids were keen to have Japanese food so we left and came back about an hour later. This is when it seems just incredible hard to believe, same friendly waiter came again and I now asked could we have a table for four and he said yes of course (seemed like a nice guy) he was directing us to a table when "Alice" came and told him in Japanese not to sit us as we were not welcome, I guess she was not aware my wife is Japanese and she could understand the language. And we just left. This is the type of service you will get from Wasai for you and your family. Not recommended.

Great restaurant. I've only had their sushi but if that's anything to go by, the rest of their menu will be fantastic as well. The food was perfectly prepared and presented and they have a wide range of sushi, sashimi and nigiri (plus a bunch of other Japanese dishes).
The atmosphere is good but don't expect a quiet, romantic evening. This is where people who eat good sushi go in Adelaide so you get a wide range of people; from couples to people eating out after work to business dinners. It can get a little loud depending on the crowd and the sake consumption. Don't let that put you off though, the decor is great and the tables are nice and spread out.
The service was fantastic, punctual, friendly, helpful. We seemed to wait a while for the cheque but then realised it was because we had a splash of wine left our glasses, the staff do not rush you here and wait until you are completely finished. The place was full (on a Tuesday night) so I would book ahead like we did.
In terms of value for money, well, I don't have a lot to compare it to but I didn't feel anything was overpriced. Regardless, for food and service this good, I'd expect it to be a little more expensive than other places. Our boat cost $54 but is easily enough to feed 4. The thing was nearly two feet long!
There were 2-5 of everything and there were easily 20 different types of sushi, sashimi and nigiri. Most of the other main's were between 10 and 30 dollars. The wine and sake selection (a good range) was also reasonably priced. I'll be back again and again.
