My first visit to the Valley Inn today since the name change and renovations. The bistro was quiet upon arrival but soon started filling up with pensioners, presumably from the local nursing homes, who have always been a feature at the previous Bremen Hotel dining room.

Having been promptly seated by an efficient and friendly waitress, I chose the chicken schnitzel from the $9.90 lunch menu (add $2 for steaks). This was served with a fair sized portion of very nice chips, a bread roll and a sauce of my choosing, in this case pepper (add $1.00 for sauces/gravies). Salad bar was included, though this is a somewhat limited choice, about six basic salads. Perhaps, this is different for evening meals or specials nights. No complaints given the overall value of the meal.

The schnitzel was good, the only problem being a slightly undercooked, flourly batter under the outer crumbs, although the outer and the chicken itself were well cooked. A decent sized serving of chips completed the dish. All in all very good value, a fair sized, well cooked meal at a very good price. One surprise was the cost of a small glass of coke, which I was advised was actually pepsi (once it was served). At $3.70 for a glass of this size, one third of which was ice, I'd have left it.

Being a non drinker I may be out of touch with pub/bistro drink prices. Regardless, I left quite satisfied, the meal was better than one would expect for the low price, the atmosphere modern and clean, the service good. I will certainly eat there again and have no hesitation in recommending The Valley Inn for those seeking a good value, decent meal.
