THE SOSTA STORY
Sosta Argentinian Kitchen was the brainchild of three of Adelaide's local hospitality workers who have been in the industry for many years and not forgotten what it's all about. They have come together to provide a warm and welcoming feeling to all.
When at Sosta you feel like one of the family where nothing is to much trouble. Under the careful eyes of Vincenzo in the kitchen, you can be assured of a quality meal every time. The passion for his craft comes from an early age as Italian child helping his parents picking olives, making sausages, tomato sauce, and helping out in the veggie patch, this where the understanding of produce and the passion started. The knowledge and skill is visible today in the kitchen as Vincenzo weaves the magic.
Out the front Sosta has Phill and Anna doing there thing, with Phill always looking to try new things and finding better ways to make your time at sosta a truly memorable one. Phill takes care of the wine and drink list, with over 130 wines and a huge range of spirits and liqueurs this is no small task. (Ssshhh he is also a chef so food and wine matching is no problem, he is more than happy to help out). Anna makes you feel

What a disappointing experience, Sosta, Rundle Street, Adelaide.
One of our entrees were quite nice, we had the meatballs and the grilled prawns(the Spanish names escape me). The meatballs were fine, nicely seasoned and full of plenty of flavour. Unfortunately, our prawns tasted and smelled of burnt prawn shell, which permeated through the flesh.
To our dismay, our meal was to get much worse. I ordered the fillet steak with the garlic, beef stock and cream sauce. Although I ordered my steak to be cooked medium, it came out rare and oozing with blood, obviously having not been rested sufficiently. The steak was incredibly tough and chewy and the sauce simply tasted of raw garlic.
My partner ordered the 700g T-Bone, to be cooked medium-rare. I'm not sure how they in fact managed it, but the steak ranged from being blue to very well done throughout the piece of meat. Close to the bone had not even been touched by heat it was that raw. His sauce, the mushroom, was watery and tasted only of weak beef stock.
Both of our steaks were completely underseasoned, tough and extremely unpleasant. Even worse, they were accompanied by a tasteless, mushy ragout.
When I asked the waitress for my steak to be cooked a little more, to the medium that I had asked, she simply replied, "so what you're saying is that you want it to be cooked well done then?" Very patronising.
I can only assume that they are using very inferior quality meats. I have never known fillet steak to be tough and chewy. The couple sitting on the table next to us had an almost identical experience and were also very disappointed. Most disappointingly, when we went to pay the bill, they didn't even bother to ask how our meal had been.
I'd save my pennies, diners, and go anywhere else. It was a complete waste of our time and money, we were furious when we left the restaurant. There was, however, one good thing about our evening, dessert across the road at Gelatissimo.

Went to Sosta's for a friends birthday recently. We had a table of 20 booked and a few people turned up late. However, it took them about an hour to come over and take a drink order. We then had to wait another half hour for the food menu's to even come out. For some reason they took orders from one table of 10 and then took a 15 minutes break before taking the order of the other table of 10.
I needed to move from one table to another so that my friend and his wife (who arrived slightly late) could sit together and I asked the waitress if that would be a problem. She rudely replied with "well yes it actually is because we have a seating plan." When the meals came out the first table was served and the second table didn't get their meals until well after the first table had finished.
Then waitress intentionally "forgot" to put my order through and apologized in an very insincere manner with a smirk on her face, obviously childish revenge for me moving seats. So by the time I got my meal everyone else was finished eating and ready to leave.

The two tapas entrees we had were surprisingly good, the empanadas were hot and fresh, and the baby calamari super tender, the aioli mayo was heavy and so, not necessary.
We all had meat for our mains, a T-bone, a porterhouse and goat. I was told that the meats (seriously chunky) were grilled to prefection. Despite the 700g size of each, they were scoffed down, leaving only gristle, fat and bones. The baby goat I had was tender but very under salted. It had been obviously stewed for ages and came covered in the vege stew. Unfortunately, we all received the same side vegetable with our mains, medium cubes of roasted vegetables. The sauce over the goat was a ratatouille cousin of the roasted veg.
We all had light Argentinian beer that was very easy to drink. Service was good, and as we arrived early, food came fast. Next time. I'm ordering a hunk of grilled meat.
