Petaluma is an award-winning restaurant offering amazing fine dining experience. Apart from food, you can taste some of the best wines and sparkling in house.

We recently had our wedding reception here. Our guests from NYC, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth all raved about the food and the atmosphere. Service was perfect not a hitch (apart from getting cabs at the end of the evening). Also returned a few weeks later for lunch and they again served up a great meal. Ok it is not cheap but for quality you have to pay. As good or better than most Top Sydney restaurants that we regularly eat at (and having lived there for >35 years).

Last visit 26/09/09. This place was once the best lunch time venue in Adelaide. However, in recent times, everything has definitely gone downhill. So much so, I'm used to be a regular, but I won't be going back again.
Food - The food is still acceptable, eventhough the quality has gone downhill. They now charge for everything which used to be included such as extra bread roll, vege, salad or petite four with coffee. Every course seems to be rushed. Quality has slipped. Veges used to be baby carrot, baby pumpkins, baby beans, corn but now it is only standard beans and standard broccoli. It is nothing like the former self. They should go back and start using quality ingredients again.
Ambience - Nothing special there. Same as before. No background music and bored waiters with poor service certainly makes it bad.
Service - Again, this used to be a highlight. Now, it is very robotic, definitely lacks that personal touch. They used to clean the table after every course, now they don't. They just leave all the crust on the table. Service is very rushed, it is like having fast food. They force you to open many bottles of water without asking. The only thing they have in mind is money.
Value - All they care about now is money. They charge for everything which used to be included. All they are trying to do is to maximise their profit. Poor quality ingredients, poor service makes this a very overpriced meal.
Conclusion - The potential is there. They have done it before so it can be done. Please go back to the good old fashion good ingredients, good food and good service. For this price, I certainly expected more and there are alot more places out there which are alot better.

Wow, the first to review this place. I'm surprised given the quality and the patronage on the day. We were in Adelaide/Barossa for the weekend and took a punt on this place based upon a colleague’s recommendation. One hour from the downtown and located in the Adelaide Hills, the restaurant is situated within the old water mill building and is co-located with the Petaluma cellar door. All lending to the wonderful feeling of calm and order.
Food was top-class with a small menu but well thought out. The seafood seemed to be the focus and it was all well done. I had the fillet beef and it just melted, a classic. Wine was from the Petaluma range supplemented as need be with other local or Oz fare. We had a glass of the Petaluma chardonnay and one of the Stonier Pinot Noir. Just superb. Service was friendly and professional. Value was good for this quality, especially in comparison to other (Sydney) restaurants.
Probably won't get back this way but will surely recommend Bridgewater Mill highly.
