"Welcome to Parente Italian Restaurant where our secret ingredient is love" - this opening line on the parents website was probably written over a couple of bottles of wine as that was the main missing ingredient tonight. We were sharing the restaurant with probably two other small groups of people for the duration of our dining. It was the penultimate night for a bunch of foreign exchange primary school students who are visiting Adelaide and meant to give them a taste of fine dining the Australian way. The service was extremely slow and I thought the children did well in patiently waiting for the food and finding innovative ways of keeping themselves busy despite being hungry. Not surprisingly, during this long wait, some of the children visited the washroom only to be rudely intercepted by the big burly staff behind the outer and warned not to go into the washroom in pairs or groups and sternly told to vacate the toilets as soon they were done. He handed us the bill and mentioned to the organiser that we would have to pay for the free ice creams he served the other guests on account of our noisy children. At no point did he approach any of the adults on our table (Ps: I don't recall seeing any of the other guests complaining). He also refused to let us use the entertainment card despite providing him his biggest business for the evening. In all my years of fine dining and despite my love for Italian food, this i the last time I will visit this restaurant.

Tried it out the other night. Eight of us dined there, we all agreed it was a very pleasurable experience. The food was delicious, a little bit different somehow, in a nice way. Service was good, prices were reasonable. We will be going back there!

I myself have been to Parente's on serveral occasions and have enjoyed every experience the food is gr8 everytime the service is above average. My family once had a function of 70 people and the whole day was faultless would recommend Parente's to everyone for all occasions.

My family recently tried Parente's two for one breakfast deal as advertised on the side of the building. After an average breakfast when presented with a bill we were charged full price. When questioned the head waiter said it was the end of the promotion and he had forgotten to take the sign down.

It was explained to him that this was false and misleading and that we would take it up with OCBA he got very violent and threatening. Certainly not a nice scene for the family and not recommended for anyone thinking of trying out this restaurant.
