Located in the heart of the Gouger Street food and market district, the Maya Masala Indian Restaurant is an exotic blend of fantastic fragrant food, ambiance inspired by rich culture and all topped off with excellent service. Our Chefs are hand picked from India and are skilled in more than the normal Indian food.

We are the only Indian Restaurant in South Australia offering the variety of dishes of North Indian, South Indian, Tandoori, Mughlai and Kashmiri cuisine. A favourite with the locals as well as visitors, you will often find the Maya Masala Indian Restaurant alive with the buzz of warm conversation celebrated with tantalizing spices and flavours.

You must try our sweets as we are also the only restaurant to create our own sweets.

I am fuming not to have read reviews before visiting this place. We ordered chicken tandoori as an entree, this should be the most basic dish that every indian rest. kitchen staff should know, it was awful, the chicken was dry, the masala ridiculous and the price over the top. The waiting staff (which was one) seemed to be in a hurry to get home I guess as everything seemed hasty. We ordered some naan bread and chicken curry for mains, the spicy chicken curry which was full of pepper and peppercorn, too spicy and terrible.

Please be aware that the overall price was also extremely inflated for the actual value offered. The senior staffs should take a good look at the food coming out the kitchen and not only keep reveling in the past when great cricketers have visited and quality was probably good.

Y'day was the first time I went to this restaurant (Maya Masala) and I would like to say that the customer service was absolute NIL (0). There were only 4 other diners when we walked in. We sat down to dine in and waited for about 10-15 minutes to get a menu card.

The 2 waiters was not at all friendly. Specially the one behind the sweets counter and he was very rude. I have been to so many restaurants in Adelaide and this is the worst ever customer service I have ever experienced in a Indian Restaurant.
To be successful in this type of business I believe you have to have good food + friendly customer service + Ambience.

I really hope the owner reads this review. If that’s your business and job do it properly and try to win more customers.
