There were 2 of us for lunch. Initial impression was positive, nice looking pub with comfortable bistro area. I ordered the salt and pepper squid. The batter was soggy, the squid chewy, the sauce a tartar tasted like one straight out of the jar. Given the price it was a rip off. My partner's beef schnitzel was even worse. The batter tasted like it was made of wholemeal pancake dough, thick and soggy and undercooked. The actual meat was so tough you could hardly chew it even though it was only wafer-thin.

We sent it back because it was inedible, came back the same way. We complained again but were told "That's just how it is...." Bon appetite Great start to our South Australian holiday.

Awesome food and great wine selection. Blues band on thursday night is not to be missed. dj's on the weekend were great as well.

Superb little old back street Adelaide city pub turned trendy by way of top class renovations whilst maintaining its 19th century charm. Brilliant upmarket pub style meals, nice wine selection, strong beer choice, friendly and caring staff. Great place for a weekday lunch on a sunny (outside in the beer garden) or winters (inside near open log fire) day. Well worth a visit.
