Overview of Assaggio Ristorante

Assaggio means "I taste" and you'll want to taste everything in this scarlet-splashed dining room.

The orange seating, white linen and chocolate carpet mixes retro-chic with contemporary style, enhanced by the up-market Stanley Rodgers cutlery and oversized stem-ware. If the speck-wrapped tiger prawns with sweet balsamic, olive oil and dill on salsa are not your thing, try the house-made ravioli of braised goat interlaced with orange-roasted pumpkin, saffron and jellied mustard fruits.

The house-made white truffle ice cream is a decadent marriage of intensity and texture all in one cool, creamy delight. The baked Roman custard melts in the mouth, with a hint of cardamom the perfect foil for caramel sauce.
Lovers of the super Tuscans will delight at the inclusion of Tignanello on the 350-strong wine list, though if your budget doesn't stretch that far, try the Isole e Olena for a taste of modern Chianti.

For fashionable diners with a nose for the new, Assaggio will not only be the place to be seen, luckily it's also a great place to eat.

The food was excellent, setting very nice, but the waiter was quite patronising. Kept calling my partner and I "Bec and Lleyton" (despite the fact that we certainly look nothing like them!) and, a few weeks later I was talking to a friend and he said that a waiter there had told him and his partner exactly the same thing. Once may have been funny, but to keep at it the whole night kind of spoiled the meal. It's been some time since I've dined here, so would be willing to try it again in the hope that the member of staff in question has moved on or shut up.

Excellent night out with girlfriend. Great service, great food especially decent vegetarian selection. Definitely worth a visit.

We went to Assaggios on our recent stay in SA what a treat, well worth a visit. Staff where fab, food was just divine, all in all great night. We will be back next year on our annual trip to the TDU.

My favourite restaurant in Adelaide has an interesting modern Italian menu. The food is all about the flavour, not just the presentation. The service is impeccable, the owners and staff are professional - there when you need them but invisible the rest of the time. Warm casual, sophisticated ambience. Interesting wines. Special dietry needs catered for. The perfect modern restaurant. No pretence. It is the real deal.
