We went for the dessert bar. After a misunderstanding, we were told that under no circumstances could they fit in one extra chair for our group. The lady who served us was rude and unhelpful, and we were made to feel very unwelcome. I also felt that children are frowned upon. We won't be coming back.

Really lovely cafe, beautiful and clean with nice looking menu. Consistently bad coffee though. They always overheat the milk and spoil the taste.

"Whipped" Bake Bar Cafe is located at the beach end of Semaphore Rd. On the foot path in front of the cafe is an Al fresco area with cheerful orange and white tables and chairs, at the rear is a private courtyard, with predominately black and white tables and a couple of the orange and whites, combined with high tables and bright yellow stools, creating a very striking effect.
A central eating area has a stunning gold and orange wall paper feature wall and a central fireplace. The main cafe area repeats the gold and orange feature wall with orange upholstered bench seats, the rest of the decor is predominately black and pale grey, with polished floors. Emerald green book case-shelves highlight the orange and emerald juicer nearby, which is constantly in use. Interesting and unusual light fittings line the counter area above a fabulous display of cakes, muffins and lunch specialties.
Behind the counter a whole blackboard wall has the descriptions of the coffee beans used here and where they originated, and two coffee grinders ensure that the coffee is always fresh. A new coffee Synesso machine and a top barista produce a loverly crema, textured coffee with a pleasant aftertaste. The "Whipped" states, "We bake and cook from scratch, using South Australian fresh produce, come in a taste the difference".
We agreed and ordered from an excellent breakfast menu the "Whipped Breakfast" of free range eggs, bacon, roast tomato, mushrooms, chorizo, hash brown and toast, excellent. My wife chose from the lunch specials board, prawns and cous cous salad, fresh, delicious and enjoyable, a thoroughly satisfying lunch experience. This cafe is very ecco friendly, with a written, sustainability, mission statement.

Cafe Assiette is situated in an historic stone building, on a corner, half way up the main street. The interior is comprised of three separate rooms with three fireplaces, creating a cosy cheerful ambience. Walls are predominately buttery cream with several feature walls of burgundy with light-shades to match. The back room has one whole wall of written messages called, "The German Message Wall", prints and framed photographs adorn the other walls, these are for sale.
The floors are predominately pale natural wood, with the back room having carpet, large barrels, pitchers and tree branches give a lovely rustic character to the decor. An Al fresco dining verandah, sheltered by shade giving trees is ideal on hot sunny days.
From a very large and varied menu from light lunches, through to hearty traditional German fare, we had, German Pork Belly, a slow braised pork belly in cashew and apple sauce served with mash and sauerkraut and green salad, a Lamb Shank French daub style, a tender, slow roasted lamb shank served on a bed of mash with salad, both of these dishes were a generous size and very delicious.
At the entrance is a sign, "The best coffee in Harndorf" we would agree. Our taste buds were also enticed by the range of tantalizing cakes at the counter. The service was excellent, we were surprised how quickly our meals were served, altogether a delightful lunch, by an open fire, on a cold day, perfect.

The Evida Cafe is ideally located on Seaview Rd Henley Beach, with ample parking alongside, and the beach shopping area across the street. The Cafe offers expansive panoramic views, with a wonderful Al fresco area on the elevated verandah accessed by french doors. Long and spacious, Evida has a modern lounge area at the entrance, then a huge tiled bar- counter, diagonally placed towards the centre of the restaurant. Large floor to ceiling curved windows on two sides give a fabulous view of the beach, pier and sea.
The wall colours vary between soft olive greens, dark feature walls & natural wood, while a stairwell is concealed behind a green glass wall that features, bright modern paintings of cafe and sea scenes. Polished wooden floors are intermixed with carpeted areas, altogether modern, colourful and interesting. Large family groups are catered for as well as two and four table settings, TV viewing is available at both ends of the restaurant. Mouth watering cakes, cookies and gelati ice-creams are displayed at the counter. The menu is extensive, sophisticated and well priced. We chose for lunch, Atlantic Salmon chargrilled, topped with lemon beurrre blanc sauce, served with steamed jasmine rice & saut'eed spinach, with pine nuts, cooked to perfection.
From the special board Crab Rissotto, pan fried crab meat, spring onions, cherry tomatoes & arborio rice in a sauce, with chilli and lemon zest, a satisfying choice. The restaurant was packed, with a vibrant friendly atmosphere predominating, complimented by excellent courteous service. We finished with an excellent coffee (Coffex) smooth with a nutty after taste, finished with good coffee art. Two cakes, difficult to choose from such a selection. Excellent Cafe/Restaurant.

Always a good venue for drinks and food. The beer selection is extensive so it is always fun to try something new. Food is done incredibly well. I recommend the waterzooi - fruit de mer (creamy seafood soup). It's incredibly rich (so wash it down with beer) but those garlic croutons are the best invention. Adds incredible texture and flavour to the meal.

Surprisingly expensive. The restaurant gives an image of being cheap and cheerful. Cheap it is not but cheerful it definitely is. The service was amazing. The staff are so friendly and attentive. It was the service that you'd expect at a 3 hat restaurant. The ambience didn't appeal to me but if you want the american steakhouse experience (like number plates on the walls, gasoline pump off to the side) then this is the place for it. It just seemed dark and dingy and sticky to me though. Food is tasty. Nothing to fancy but what they do, they do well. The pork ribs were very, very tasty. The description is not exaggerating when it says it falls off the bone. Vegetables were done well too (not overcooked). The curly fries are disappointing but that's the nature of the product, nothing the restaurant could have done to make them better. Most of the fries were stuck together when they cooked so it was more like clumpy fries than curly fries. I enjoyed this meal a lot but wouldn't rush back.

Two colleagues and I ate here after a long day as it was the restaurant of the hotel (Hotel Grand Chancellor on Currie). This was a big mistake.
I had the spaghetti marinara which was awful. The prawns had not been properly de-veined, the mussels still had sand and dirt in them, and the sauce tasted of chemicals. I couldn't eat it. Avoid.

Having been a regular customer for quite a few years we have seen it deteriorate in terms of quality and service. This evening we had poor service and complained to the the "Senior Staff", Eli, who replied "The owner is Lebanese and he will deal with you". He appeared to be quite Ok with our complaint, but the food was not what was ordered and cold, but we were too intimidated to complain further. Avoid.

Had a high tea there today. The lady was very rude. I was told children were allowed, however, when we got there was made to feel very different indeed. Had asked for a high chair, there wasn't one. Had to sit in the corner so we were not in the way, and was told it was booked! Well, the whole time we were there, it was not busy at all. My daughter Was very rudely told not to touch the $80 tea cup, she could have used a little more tact. My mother and I were very disappointed, do not recommend at all. Not a nice way to greet your guests.
